Meet Dr. Gabriel Tanaka
Born in Brazil and raised in Cary, NC, Dr. Gabriel Tanaka knew from an early age that he wanted a career where he could work with his hands and make a meaningful impact on people’s lives. That passion led him to dentistry—a unique blend of precision, creativity, and human connection. After completing his undergraduate studies, he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. A true Tar Heel at heart, he still cheers passionately for UNC basketball.
For Dr. Tanaka, the most rewarding part of dentistry is the relationships he builds with his patients. Whether he’s helping someone regain confidence in their smile or providing a routine check-up, he approaches every appointment with care, precision, and a warm, easygoing nature. His favorite part of the profession? The chance to improve not just someone’s health, but their overall quality of life.
After dental school, Dr. Tanaka settled in Charlotte, where he lives with his wife, Hannah. Together, they enjoy exploring new restaurants—one of their favorites is Vicente in South End, where he swears you’ll find the best pastries in North Carolina.
Outside the office, Dr. Tanaka enjoys music and has been a pianist since the age of six. He’s also a big basketball fan and follows the Panthers, Hornets, and, of course, his beloved Tar Heels.
In his downtime, he likes catching up on his favorite show Severance, enjoying a good cup of coffee, or reminiscing about his favorite travel destination—the Algarve in Portugal, with its dramatic cliffs and breathtaking beaches. Though he prefers the mountains over the beach, he’s always ready for a new adventure.
Dr. Tanaka brings a calm, caring, and approachable presence to every visit. For him, dentistry is more than a profession—it’s a personal mission to help others feel healthy, confident, and cared for.
