Root Canal in Lexington, SC

1915 S Lake Dr, Lexington, SC 29073

Bela Family Dentistry of White Knoll provides root canal treatment for patients in Lexington, SC who are dealing with tooth pain caused by infection or nerve damage. Root canals have a reputation for being uncomfortable, but the procedure itself is designed to relieve pain, not cause it. Our team performs root canals with precision and care, focusing on your comfort from start to finish.

Why Do You Need a Root Canal in Lexington SC?

Root canal treatment is necessary when the soft tissue inside a tooth, known as the pulp, becomes infected or severely inflamed. This can happen as a result of deep decay, a crack in the tooth, repeated dental procedures on the same tooth, or trauma. When the pulp is affected, it cannot heal on its own. Without treatment, the infection spreads, causes increasing pain, and can lead to abscess formation or tooth loss.

Many patients fear root canals based on stories they have heard. The reality is that modern root canal treatment is comparable to getting a filling in terms of discomfort. The procedure removes the source of pain rather than creating it. Most patients report significant relief within a day or two of treatment.

Signs you may need a root canal:

  • Persistent or severe toothache
  • Prolonged sensitivity to heat or cold after the source is removed
  • Darkening or discoloration of the tooth
  • Swelling or tenderness in the nearby gums
  • A pimple-like bump on the gum near the affected tooth
  • Pain when biting or applying pressure to a tooth
  • A tooth that was injured by impact or trauma

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, the sooner you call the better. Early treatment prevents the infection from spreading further.

Why Choose Bela Family Dentistry for Your Root Canal

Bela Family Dentistry of White Knoll treats root canals with care and efficiency. Our team uses local anesthesia and, when needed, sedation dentistry to ensure the procedure is as comfortable as possible. We explain every step before we begin so you know exactly what is happening during treatment.

We also focus on saving your natural tooth whenever possible. A successfully treated tooth can last for many more years with the right crown and ongoing care. Keeping your natural tooth is almost always preferable to extraction and replacement.

What to expect at Bela:

  • Thorough evaluation including X-rays to confirm the diagnosis
  • Local anesthesia to keep you comfortable throughout the procedure
  • Sedation options for anxious patients
  • Efficient treatment focused on removing infection and relieving pain
  • Crown placement recommendations to protect the treated tooth long-term
  • Follow-up care to ensure proper healing

Book your appointment at Bela Family Dentistry of White Knoll today if you are experiencing tooth pain or any of the warning signs listed above.

I can’t say enough good things!
I was a new patient and they got me in the next day for a chipped tooth. I expected to have to wait a little while, but nope. The dentist moved quickly and the transition was smooth. I have horrible dental anxiety. However, the staff did everything to make the visit as comfortable as possible. The staff and dentist were all very friendly! I plan to return! Thank you all 🩵

Everyone is so friendly here, it really helps to put someone like me, with dental anxiety at ease. They do not pressure, push, or create insecurities by commenting on esthetic things eith your teeth, simply asking if there is anything that bothers you or that you would like to change.

Dr. Collier and the entire team were wonderful! They really get to know you and are super friendly. This was my first visit so they took X-rays and even pictures of my teeth. When discussing my treatment plan they showed me the pictures while explaining the issue and treatment suggestion so I understood. They were great about including me in the discussions, making sure I understood and asked what my main concerns were as well as goals for long term. I highly recommend Dr. Collier!!

As soon as I walked into Bela Family Dentistry White Knoll practice, I was greeted with beautiful warm, welcoming smiles. The front desk was extremely professional, and the office aesthetically pretty. Britney was her lovely self, and Dr. Lineberry, a consummate professional. The assistant who had given me the 3D scan, was a new employee and couldn’t have been more accommodating. It was also a pleasure to see Dr. Collier’s beautiful big brown eyes and warm greeting.

After having my own phobias about dentistry, this is the practice that is my stress reliever. I will always remain a loyal patient.

The only complaint I do have is that I wasn’t given a lollipop. 😉

Frequently Answer Questions

How Do I Know If I Need a Root Canal?

The most common signs are a persistent toothache, sensitivity to hot or cold that lingers after the source is removed, swelling near the tooth, or a visible dark spot on the tooth. The only way to confirm whether you need a root canal is through an exam and X-rays. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, call our office.

Does a Root Canal Hurt?

Most patients are surprised by how comfortable root canal treatment is. Local anesthesia numbs the area completely before the procedure begins. Any soreness after treatment is usually mild and manageable with over-the-counter pain relievers. The procedure itself relieves the pain caused by the infection.

How Many Appointments Does a Root Canal Take?

Most root canals are completed in one to two appointments, depending on the complexity of the case. A follow-up appointment is typically scheduled to place a permanent crown to protect the treated tooth.

What Happens If I Do Not Get a Root Canal?

Without treatment, the infection inside the tooth continues to spread. This can lead to a dental abscess, bone loss around the tooth, or the need for extraction. The pain also tends to worsen over time. Early treatment avoids these more serious complications.

Can I Drive Home After a Root Canal?

If you only receive local anesthesia, you should be fine to drive home. If you choose sedation, you will need someone to drive you to and from your appointment. Our team will discuss this with you before your procedure.

How Do I Care for My Tooth After a Root Canal?

Avoid chewing on the treated side until a permanent crown is placed. Keep the area clean with regular brushing and flossing. Report any persistent swelling, pain, or signs of new infection to our team. With proper care, the treated tooth can last for many years.

Other Services We Offer in Bela Family Dentistry in Lexington

Our Lexington office provides a full range of dental services, including:

Preventive Care (Cleanings, Exams, and Fluoride Treatments)

Regular dental checkups and cleanings are the foundation of a healthy smile. Our thorough exams help catch potential issues early, while professional cleanings remove plaque and tartar buildup that brushing alone can’t reach. Fluoride treatments provide extra protection against cavities by strengthening your enamel. With routine preventive care, we help you maintain a confident, long-lasting smile.

Cosmetic Dentistry (Teeth Whitening, Veneers, and Smile Makeovers)

A beautiful smile can boost your confidence, and our cosmetic dentistry services are designed to help you achieve just that. Professional teeth whitening lifts years of stains, while veneers provide a flawless, natural-looking enhancement for chipped, discolored, or misshapen teeth. Whether you’re looking for a small change or a complete smile makeover, we’ll create a customized treatment plan to bring your dream smile to life.

Restorative Treatments (Fillings, Crowns, and Bridges)

If you have a damaged or missing tooth, our restorative treatments can bring back the function and appearance of your smile. Tooth-colored fillings seamlessly repair cavities, while crowns restore strength and structure to weakened teeth. For missing teeth, bridges offer a natural-looking solution to fill gaps and prevent further dental issues. Our goal is to keep your smile healthy and strong for years to come.

Dental Implants for Permanent Tooth Replacement

Missing teeth don’t have to impact your confidence or quality of life. Dental implants are a long-term, natural-looking solution that replaces both the root and crown of a missing tooth. They function just like real teeth, allowing you to eat, speak, and smile with confidence. With proper care, implants can last a lifetime, making them an excellent investment in your oral health.

Comfortable Root Canals and Extractions

When a tooth is severely damaged or infected, a root canal can save it from extraction while relieving pain and restoring function. If an extraction is necessary, we make the process as smooth and comfortable as possible. Our gentle approach ensures minimal discomfort and a quick recovery. We’ll also discuss tooth replacement options to keep your smile complete and healthy.

Customized Treatment Plans Tailored to Your Needs

Every smile is unique, which is why we take the time to understand your goals and oral health needs. Whether you need a single procedure or a full-mouth rehabilitation, we’ll create a personalized treatment plan that aligns with your lifestyle and budget. Our goal is to provide exceptional care with long-term results, helping you achieve and maintain a smile you love.
